不知道已经看了多少遍的经典剧。 Gilmore Girls is my favourite TV series throughout the past decades. I've watched Friends repeatedly, it's easy to watch, funny to laugh, it's like a cup of hot chocolate in the cold winter making you feel safe and warm. Gilmore Girls is even better than that. The conversation is witty, fast, loquacious, satirical, full of pop culture and literature references. The cast is only the most good-looking, ingenious group of actors and actresses there ever is. And most importantly, it's a mother-daughter show happening in a small, appealing town called Stars Hollow in Connecticuit, the show revolves life stories of Lorelai Gilmore and Rory Gilmore (Lorelai Gilmore, the mother named her daughter after herself): their love lives, laughter, sorrows, significant life events, obsession with coffee, good music, books, pop cultures, witty verbal banters, and junk food.

To me, Gilmore Girls is a classic. Amy Sherman-Palladino is my favourite screenwriter other than Aaron Sorkin (the screenwriter for The Social Network, The West Wing and The Newsroom). She has won Primetime Emmy Awards for another creation of hers- The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. She is one of the trailblazers in this industry- an extremely talented producer and screenwriter. She is the sort of role model for a lot of women who seek to pursue a similar career.The Marvellous Mrs Maisel- also created by Amy Sherman-Palladino

The story of Rory Gilmore is charming, inspiring, yet screams elitism. The mother and daughter are not materialistic at all, however, they are from a wealthy, white, middle-class American family. On one point, the whole story is based on Rory's academic studies in Chilton and Yale, life in Stars Hollow, Friday-night dinner in Hartford with her grandparents (who sponsored her private school tuition and college tuition- Christopher, Rory's father sponsored her for Yale as well, she also has a trust fund set up for her by her grandparents), and upcoming career challenges. Rory was initially studying at Stars Hollow High, where she met her first love- Dean Forrester. She later transferred to a private school- Chilton and studied diligently for her life goal- Harvard University. Somehow she ended up going to Yale. She is an intimidatingly smart, driven girl who knows what she wants in life.

One of my favourite features of the show is definitely Rory's love life (I love her academic mind tremendously, I'm also nerdy and enjoy readings wholeheartedly). Dean, Jess, and Logan have shaped her perspectives on relationship. Dean is Rory's first love, he is the perfect boyfriend she could ever ask for. In Rory's own words, quote below: Rory and Dean ran into each other after all these years again in Dosey's market

It was a mutual love-at-first-sight. They fell in love quickly and became the "it" couple of the town. It was a shame that they went different directions, Rory has set Harvard as her goal since she was three, Dean was just a boy moved from Chicago with his family to Stars Hollow, he doesn't have a specific plan for life after high school. They were each other's sweetheart, but life was too cruel to make Dean realize that Rory belongs to a bigger world, he had to let her go eventually.

Jess is so different from Dean. He is the bad guy that most teenage girls would fall for- good-looking, well-read, despises everything, etc. Rory and Jess have so much in common. He is smart enough to read all the books he can find, they can have conversations about books, music, cult movies, being defiant and reckless from time to time. Rory knows that she can relax and explore different sides of herself when she is with Jess. But Jess was emotionally unavailable for her in the end. He ran away from everything, he was being elusive about senior prom (Rory was really looking forward to attending prom with Jess), Rory had a bright future ahead of her, she moved on after the graduation trip to Europe with Lorelai.

Logan and Rory did not start on the right foot- it was like Elizabeth and Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice for a short period of time. But it turns out that they are actually right for each other on every aspect. They went through ups and downs hand in hand.If it weren't for the job on Obama's presidential campaign, they really would end up together.

This is just one great feature of the show, there is so much to watch, and it's definitely a classic among all those TV series in history.I highly recommend this show to anyone who loves classic TV series.
